Neil Usher, General Manager, Group Property - Rio Tinto

A Politics & International Relations graduate, Neil started his career in various management roles in government (prosecutor for DVLC) and music distribution. In 1991, five years later, he spent a year doing an MSc in Information Technology after which he worked as a self-employed systems analyst for a year. 

In 1992, Neil started in FM as Manager at Warner Music. He continued his career at PolyGram for two years, and then as European Director of Service Operations at Warner Bros for four years, consolidating all of the group’s London sites. 

After two years as Business Development Director at Trammell Crow, in August 2002 Neil became European Director of Real Estate at Honeywell, managing a portfolio of over 500 sites in 33 countries.

In August 2006 he was appointed General Manager – Group Property at Rio Tinto, with a global property and facilities management remit, directing major projects in the UK, USA, Australia and China.

Neil has written lyrics for three songs which have appeared on Top 10 albums in Ireland.
