The quality of entrants for the 2004 award was outstanding again this year, and also quite diverse, demonstrating how technology can be applied in a multitude of ways, to deliver improved services in FM.
Not only was the quality of entrants up on last year, but so too were the number of entrants. The judging panel consisting of Jane Fenwick (Editor P&FM) Mick Dalton (Deputy Chair BIFM) David Emanuel (MD www.i-FM.net) thus decided to short list four of the applications, as we felt that they all deserved to present to us, based on their applications.
Joint Winner - GSH
GSH presented what can only be described as highly innovative and extremely effective use of IT systems to maximise their service delivery performance. Having entered the competition last year and presented their aspirations, we were now shown the integration of tools in practise and were given the opportunity to see if their investment in IT really does provide them competitive advantage in the marketplace.
The system comprises of four technologies developed in partnership with HBOS Plc and allows GSH to offer a differentiated service to the marketplace, by integrating electronic asset tagging, automated asset data gathering, wireless job delivery and closure and portal reporting – with real time anywhere/anytime access. The system really identified how the emergence and tailoring of technology can bring about true business benefits for organisations.
